app review - chromatik

Hello! Today I've got an app review/showcase for you all. I love discovering new and useful apps and then sharing them with you!

Today's app is called Chromatik. It's perfect for anyone who plays and instrument or likes to sing (with sheet music).

When you first open the app, you can choose from a wide variety of instruments to get sheet music for. You can go back and switch instruments later on if you want to. Once you specify your instrument you have access to the free sheet music. The song collection is always changing and the music (each song is available for a limited amount of time) ranges from old classics to brand new hits.

When you click on a song, you can access the sheet music, listen to other people's performances, watch a YouTube video of the original song, or record your own performances.

From the menu you can access a metronome and a tuner. The metronome allows you to tap the speed of the beat that you need and select which notes (whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, etc.) you want the metronome to count. The tuner rotates to display which note is being played and how far away you are from being in tune. Both tools are must-haves for musicians and both have a clean, simple design.

Other features in the menu include a place to view your recordings and sharing options to show the app to your friends.

I love this app and use it frequently when I'm practicing the violin. Let me know if you try it out and what your thoughts are!

misterwives

Hello there! Have you ever heard of the band Misterwives? I heard of them when a friend of mine suggested I listen to a remix of a song of theirs. I loved the song, especially the singer's voice, so I decided to do some research on this band called Misterwives!

You might be wondering why they're called Misterwives. The name is actually a play on the term "sisterwives" because the singer, Mandy Lee, is the only girl in the group. The New York based band has five members in total.

That's enough facts for now, onto their music. As soon as I heard their songs, I was hooked! Their lyrics are addictive and Mandy's singing has so much emotion. You know when you're listening to music and there's a moment in the song that you're anticipating and when you hear it it just makes you smile? There are so many of those in their songs for me! One of my favorites is the part where Mandy sings "Your heart's just an organ that pumps nothing more than blood" in their song "Twisted Tongue"

summer playlist

Summer is nearly over, which is sad, because gone are the days of warm weather and lots of free time. But fall is special in its own way and I am very excited to go back to school. I can't wait to see all of my friends!

To make the most of these last few days I decided to create an end of summer playlist. I very creatively named it "End of Summer Playlist".

1// My Friend Has a Swimming Pool was recommended to me by a friend and I thought it was so catchy and represented summer and spending days at the pool perfectly. If you listen to it with headphones it sounds amazing!

2// Summer by Calvin Harris is a song that's been playing for quite some time, but it's still great!

3// Rude is such a catchy song! It has a really unique sound that I just love.

4// Reflections is by my favorite band, it's probably their most well-known song. I recommend listening to the Jam in the Van version of it. I personally think it sounds better, more real, less produced.

5// Last but not least, You Make Me is a great dance song. It has a great beat and it just sounds really good overall.
